Someone stole my “Coexist” magnet off my car today. It didn’t fall off. Someone took it. It rained really, really hard today, then stopped in early afternoon. When I got to my car in the parking lot after class, there was only the line of dirt where the sticker had been. If it had fallen off while I was driving that morning, the dirt outline would have been washed away by the rain. But no.

I’m still trying to decide if the person who took it really, really disagreed with it, or was so taken (ha) with the concept that the irony of stealing such a sticker was simply lost on them. *sigh* Humanity. I will never understand.

This is a wand I made for myself about 8 years ago. The stone at the top is green, though it’s kind of hard to tell in the photos. The script I carved into the wand shaft is in Theban, and the wood is a branch from an oak tree that used to stretch over our yard. Unfortunately, last year, that tree had to be cut down because it got sick and was dropping huge branches everywhere (one of them actually broke a section of the fence between my and my neighbor’s house. The stump was at least 8 feet across at its widest point, and the tree was one of the largest and oldest oaks in the city. I was sad to see it go.

My interim altar in my room. I’ll be moving into my apartment soon (got stuck at the parents’ house between apartments), so I didn’t want to get a lot of things out.

Also, as a side note: I think I have found a remedy for my altar cloth conundrum. I really like having a pretty cloth, but I’m always paranoid that I’m going to mess up one of my nice scarves, especially the silk ones, by getting wax on them or something. So! I’ve used a dishtowel of the non-textured variety. This particular one is from World Market. The great thing is that there are all kinds of really pretty towels these days, and if (when, really) you get crap on them, you can just toss them in the washing machine. :)

On Hiatus This Week

I’ve put this blog on hiatus for the week, since I’m in the process of moving right now, so I haven’t had any time to take new pictures of things/plants etc to put in the queue. But! Once I get myself moved and things all sorted out (and altar re-setup!) I will have more things for you all. :) In the mean time, I may reblog a few things here or there if I have a moment, but no original things. ….I think I used the word “things” a few too many times there. Oh well.

These are the plant markers I mentioned before (or the ones I could find anyway). I made them by painting wooden eggs with acrylic in colors and designs that correspond with each plant’s element, as well as one egg with a bind-rune.

I’m pretty sure my desert rose likes my jade plant. Or maybe it just wants in its pot, I don’t know, lol. I re-potted my basil yesterday, finally. It’s been needing it for a while. Also, now I’m able to use that nifty little painted wood egg I made last year that says “Basil” on it. I made several of them last year, each with for a different herb. Since basil is aligned with fire, I painted the egg with fire colors and the triangle symbol for fire. I used several layers of red, gold, and black acrylic paint, and it was quite time-consuming, requiring patience and precision, but I really like how it came out. I’ll probably post more later with photos of the whole set, assuming I can figure out where I managed to put them all…

I made this mini altar a long time ago, with the idea that I could have something to take with me or set up in a cramped dorm or apartment space. I used a soap dish for the base, and then used that blue sticky putty stuff (what is it even called?) to securely attach a tea light holder and stones representing each element.
